Dr. Joanna Umo-Etuk MBBS, FRCA
Chair-UK Chapter
A Consultant Anaesthetist at Barking Havering and Redbridge University Trust, London. I am a subspecialist in Paediatric Anaesthesia and Pain medicine and have been a clinical lead in both areas for the last 15 years.
I started my specialist training in Anaesthesia at Lagos University teaching hospital ( under the tutelage of the renowned Professor Dorothy Foulk-Scrabbe) prior to returning to the UK.
I completed my postgraduate training at several prominent London hospitals ( Hammersmith, Charing Cross and Chelsea & Westminster hospitals).
Alongside an impactful clinical career, I have had the privilege of mentoring and supporting several female colleagues as they embark on the challenging path of becoming NHS consultants at a time when the demands and expectations of the role may conflict with that of family commitments.
My enthusiasm for WIHCN is underpinned by the concept of women supporting, nurturing and promoting their colleagues in the Healthcare space. It is a natural progression from my role as a mentor.
I consider it a privilege to serve this organisation in any capacity which will advance its progress and achieve it’s objectives.
